There is a strong biblical tradition of "prophets" interceding.
Gen 20:7 (often seen as an Elohist, or Northern, text) presents "a prophet's" prayer as powerful.
Other texts present Moses and Samuel as great figures from Israel's history who interceded for the nation: Ex 32:11-14; Num 14:13ff.; 1 Sam 7:5, 7-8, 12:19, 23; Jer 15:1.
Of the later prophets, Jeremiah and Ezekiel particularly were pictured as intercessors: Jer 7:16; 11:14; 15:1 (cf.11); Ezek 9:8; even Jer 18:20 shows this in a backhanded way!
