Covenant Code

Exodus chapters 21-23 are called the Covenant Code on the basis of Ex 24:7. This collection is widely regarded as the oldest in the Pentateuch. It begins with casuistic laws, common to all Ancient Near -Eastern "law codes' but ends with apodictic material.
