פקד pqd "visit, attend to, punish" this verb seems to have a wide range of meanings. They cluster round the notion of a formal official "visit". Usually the cotext defines the meaning more closely. In Amos in each case the "visit" is to punish what is wrong (Am 3:2, 14).
