מַעֲלָה ma`ala "stair, step"  in Am 9:6 the MT has both a qere (מַעֲלוֹתָי) and kethib (מַעֲלוֹתוֹ) reading, the LXX like the kethib has the singular though the fragment found at Murabba'at (Dead Sea Scrolls) and other ancient versions have plural like the qere. Many recent scholars suggest emending to read "upper room" (עליתו), but this seems unnecessary.
