עֵשֶׂב `eseb "herb, foliage" a very general word for plants eaten by animals or humans. Includes grass, but can be distinguished from trees, as at Ex 9:25 (though at 10:12 later in the story it seems to include trees). To suggest this breadth of meaning I have rendered עֵשֶׂב "foliage" in Am 7:2.
