עָמוֹס`amos. Name of the prophet to whom the third "book" within the "book of the twelve" attributes the preaching and visions it contains and whose story it tells. Nothing is known of him outside the contents of this book. His name is not the same as (Isaiah's father), Amoz. (See dictionary article.)
